Biographical Sketch
Prof. Amiya Kumar Panda, after the completion of his Ph. D. Worked with Prof. S. P. Moulik of Jadavpur University, in the field of microemulsion and nanoparticles synthesis.
After joining Behala College he received the BOYSCAST Fellowship to work at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, to work on lung surfactants.
Prof. Panda then joined University of North Bengal whereby he could initiate his independent work. He received ENDEAVOUR AWARD from the Govt. of Australia to work on pulmonary surfactant with special emphasis on evolutionary biology.
His present research interests include the surfactants aggregation, lipid monolayer/bilayer and other drug delivery systems.
Academic Interest
Prof. Amiya Kumar Panda is one of the leading scientists in the state of West Bengal who have made substantial contribution in the field of colloid and interface science. His present research activities include the physicochemical characterization of lipid based drug delivery systems, which has been reflected through his publications. Such drug delivery systems (vesicles and nanostrcutured lipid carriers) are considered as promising agents, which were not so well investigated in the Indian subcontinent. His research credentials are well established through his significant publications. Prof. Panda has the capability in establishing a number of international collaborations with some leading scientists around the globe. Besides his research activities, Prof. Panda has an outstanding organizational capacity. It is needless to mention that Prof. Amiya Kumar Panda, if selected as the Fellow of the West Bengal Academy of Sciences, would definitely lead to the advancement of scientific activities in the State of West Bengal as well as in India and abroad.
