Dr. Debasish Biswas is Professor and Head of the Department of Business Administration at Vidyasagar University, Midnapore, West Bengal, India. He holds M.Com, MBA, M.Phil, Ph.D. degrees and is UGC–NET qualified, with additional professional qualifications including DLL, PGDHM, PGDMM, PGDE, PGDFM, and GDCA. His areas of specialization include Human Resource Management, Accounting and Finance, Industrial Relations, Organizational Behaviour, and Sustainability Studies. Dr. Biswas has over a decade of teaching, research, and academic leadership experience in higher education. His research interests broadly cover HRM practices, work-life balance, financial inclusion, industrial relations, corporate sustainability, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven management systems. He has contributed extensively to empirical and interdisciplinary research with a strong focus on Indian industry and emerging economies. He is a prolific author and editor, having published more than 30 books with reputed national and international publishers such as Routledge, Springer, Sage, Himalaya Publishing House, and CRC Press. Several of his books are prescribed as reference texts for undergraduate and postgraduate management programmes. In addition, he has published a large number of research articles in Scopus-indexed, ABDC-ranked, Web of Science, and UGC Care–listed journals, and has authored numerous chapters in edited volumes published by Springer and other leading academic publishers. Dr. Biswas has actively guided doctoral scholars and postgraduate research projects, and has been associated with curriculum development, academic administration, faculty development programmes, and research methodology training. He has also participated in and coordinated academic seminars, workshops, and conferences at national and international levels. Dr. Debasish Biswas’s academic and research interests span the interdisciplinary domains of Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Financial Inclusion, Organizational Behaviour, and Sustainable Business Practices. His research primarily focuses on examining how human capital development, HRM practices, and institutional frameworks influence employee performance, job satisfaction, work-life balance, and organizational sustainability in emerging economies. A significant strand of his work investigates labour welfare, productivity, and industrial relations in traditional and labour-intensive sectors such as tea plantations, power generation, construction, and healthcare, with particular emphasis on policy implications and inclusive growth. He has also conducted extensive research on financial inclusion, microfinance, and digital banking, exploring how technology-driven financial systems can enhance access, efficiency, and socioeconomic empowerment among marginalized communities. Dr. Biswas has a strong interest in contemporary management issues including corporate sustainability, decent work, ethical leadership, and quality of work life. His recent research increasingly integrates advanced quantitative and qualitative techniques such as structural equation modeling, data mining, bibliometric analysis, and machine learning–based models to address complex managerial and policy-oriented problems. Another important area of his scholarship involves entrepreneurship development, MSMEs, and sectoral marketing systems, including agribusiness and marine fish marketing, with a focus on supply chain efficiency, stakeholder welfare, and regional development. He is also actively engaged in research on digital transformation, e-HRM, Industry 4.0 and 5.0, and their implications for workforce management and organizational resilience.
