Debdas Roy, PhD, is currently Associate Professor at the Department of English Literature, Language and Cultural Studies, Vidyasagar University in the state of West Bengal, India. An alumnus of Ramakrishna Mission Residential College (Autonomous), Narendrapur, Kolkata, he has obtained Master’s and Ph. D. Degree in English from the Vidyasagar University, India. He has done his PhD on the “Elements of Doubt and Uncertainty in the Select Poems and Sermons of John Donne”. Dr. Roy has the teaching and research experience of more than twenty three years. His main areas of research interest are “John Donne and the Metaphysical Poets”, “Shakespeare Studies”, “Gender and Sexuality Studies”, “Dharma (religion) Studies”, “Indigenous Cultural Studies”, “Indian English Poetry” etc. He has contributed a few research papers to national and international journals of repute along with some volumes of books in different areas of study. Besides, a translated book on indigenous stories of Jetor community people entitled Jetorlore : Oral Tales from the Jetor Indigenous Community is going to be published from Jadavpur University Press, Kolkata. He acted as the Editor-in-chief of a formerly UGC-CARE enlisted journal named Middle Flight published from Sukumar Sengupta Mahavidyalaya, his former place of work (07.04.2010 – 08.03. 2022) after his service (12.09.2003-06.04.2010) at Y. S. Palpara College against a substantive post. He was the Director of an ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research) Minor Research Project (2023-2024) on the culture of the Jetor community, West Bengal India.
